Abstract

Bloodless surgery has emerged as a transformative approach to operative care, minimizing or eliminating the need for allogeneic blood transfusions. This paradigm shift is driven by advancements in surgical techniques, perioperative blood management, and a growing emphasis on patient safety, cost reduction, and respect for patient beliefs. This article reviews the current innovations and future directions of bloodless surgery, including minimally invasive techniques, pharmacologic agents, patient-specific blood conservation strategies, and technological innovations. The implications for surgical outcomes, global health equity, and ethical considerations are also explored.
