Abstract

Immunization is one of the most effective public health strategies for preventing infectious diseases, particularly in children. Vaccines have played a critical role in reducing the incidence of preventable diseases, including polio, measles, and diphtheria, thereby saving millions of lives worldwide. This article explores the various immunization strategies used globally and locally to prevent infectious diseases in children, emphasizing the importance of timely vaccination, vaccine coverage, and overcoming barriers to immunization. The article discusses both traditional vaccines and newer, innovative vaccine technologies. Moreover, it outlines challenges such as vaccine hesitancy, logistical issues, and the role of national health systems in improving vaccination rates. With a focus on both developed and developing countries, particularly Pakistan, this article highlights effective immunization programs and strategies to ensure equitable access to vaccines and improve childhood health outcomes.
