Nanotechnology has revolutionized the field of drug delivery by enabling the development of systems that can deliver therapeutic agents directly to targeted sites in the body, thereby enhancing efficacy and minimizing side effects. This article reviews the role of nanotechnology in targeted drug delivery systems, focusing on the mechanisms, types of nanocarriers, and recent advancements in the field. The integration of nanotechnology with targeted delivery strategies has shown promise in treating various diseases, including cancer, by improving drug solubility, stability, and bioavailability. However, challenges such as biocompatibility, toxicity, and regulatory issues remain. Future research is essential to address these challenges and translate nanotechnology-based drug delivery systems into clinical practice.
